(on some models) www.GEAppliances.comOn some modelsWater Filter CartridgeThe water filter cartridge is located in theback upper right corner of the refrigeratorcompartment.When to Replace the FilterThere is a replacement indicator light forthe water filter cartridge on the dispenser.This light will turn orange to tell you thatyou need to replace the filter soon.The filter cartridge should be replacedwhen the replacement indicator light turnsred or if the flow of water to the dispenseror icemaker decreases.Installing the Filter CartridgeIf you are replacing the cartridge, firstremove the old one by slowly turningit to the left. Do not pull down on thecartridge. A small amount of watermay drip down.Fill the replacement cartridge withwater from the tap to allow for betterflow from the dispenser immediatelyafter installation.Lining up the arrow on the cartridgeand the cartridge holder, place thetop of the new cartridge up insidethe holder. Do not push it up intothe holder.Slowly turn it to the right until the filtercartridge stops. DO NOT OVERTIGHTEN.As you turn the cartridge, it willautomatically raise itself into position.Cartridge will rotate about 1/4 turn.Run water from the dispenser for3 minutes (about one and a halfgallons) to clear the system andprevent sputtering.Press and hold the RESET WATER FILTERpad on the dispenser for 3 seconds.NOTE: A newly-installed water filtercartridge may cause water to spurt fromthe dispenser.Filter Bypass PlugYou must use the filter bypass plugwhen a replacement filter cartridge is notavailable.
