Slow cooking andsimmering. At low setting, melt chocolate andbutter on small surface unit.Cooktop temperatures increase with thenumber of surface units that are on. With 3 ormore units turned on, surface temperaturesare high so be careful when touching thecooktop. The hot surface indicator light(s) willremain lit after the surface unit is off until thesurface is cool enough to touch.NOTE:• At high (6) or medium high (4–5) settings,never leave food unattended. Boilovers causesmoking; greasy spillovers may catch on fire.• When a surface unit is turned on, the unit canbe seen glowing red within a few seconds. Thered glow will turn on and off (cycling) tomaintain the selected heat setting. With poorcookware, you will see frequent cycling of theunit off and on. Good, flat cookware willminimize the cycling. See the SurfaceCookware Tips section.• It is safe to place hot cookware from the ovenor surface on the glass ceramic surface when itis cool.CAUTION: The Hot Surface IndicatorLight(s) may remain lit even after the surfaceunit(s) have been turned off. This is due toheat retention in the unit(s). The light(s) willnot turn off until the unit(s) have cooled to asafe temperature. When thecontrol is in any position other than off (•),it may be rotated without pushing it in.The Unit On Indicator Light will glow whenANY surface unit is on.A Hot Surface Indicator Light will glow whenany surface unit is turned on, and will remain onuntil the surface is cool enough to touch.At both off (•) and high (6) the control“clicks” into position.In a quiet kitchen, you may hear slight“clicking” sounds—an indication that the heatsettings you selected are being maintained.Switching to higher heat settings always resultsin a quicker heat change than switching tolower settings.
