Protect the paint finish. Thefinish on the outside of the freezer is ahigh quality, baked-on paint finish. Withproper care, it will stay new-looking andrust-free for years. Apply a coat ofappliance polish wax when the freezer isnew and then at least twice a year.Appliance polish wax also works well toremove tape residue from freezersurfaces.Keep the finish clean. Wipe with a cleancloth lightly dampened with appliancepolish wax or mild liquid dishwashingdetergent. Dry and polish with a clean,soft cloth. Do not wipe the freezer with asoiled dishwashing cloth or wet towel.Do not use scouring pads, powderedcleaners, bleach, or cleaners containingbleach.CAUTION: Care should be taken in moving thefreezer away from the wall. All types of floorcoverings can be damaged, particularlycushioned coverings and those with embossedsurfaces.nInside. Clean the inside of your freezer atleast once a year. We recommend that thefreezer be unplugged before cleaning. Ifthis is not practical, wring excess moistureout of sponge or cloth when cleaning inthe vicinity of switches, lights or controls.Use warm water and baking sodasolution—about a tablespoon of bakingsoda to a quart of water. Rinse thoroughlywith water and wipe dry. Do not usecleaning powders or other abrasivecleaners.An open box of baking soda in the freezerwill absorb stale freezer odors. Changethe box every three months.8No Defrosting (on No-Frost models)You never have to defrost your new No-Frost freezer. It has been pre-set at thefactory to defrost itself automatically.Package labels always remain clearly legible,and packages will remain easy to separateand remove.During defrosting, a slight noise may benoticed if the door is opened while thefreezer is in the automatic defrosting cycle.To Remove the Freezer Door (on Upright models)Lift up the plastic hinge cover and fold itback. It is very important that a screwdriverbe used both to loosen and retighten theflat head screws on the top hinge, to insurea secure assembly and prevent hingeslippage.Remove the top hinge from the cabinet,then lift the door off the lower hinge pin.After the door is removed from the freezer,remove the two screws from the bottomhinge.To replace the door, reverse the order ofthe above instructions.
