About the controls on the refrigerator.Control SettingsInitially, set the control(s) at 5 (some models haveonly one control). Allow 24 hours for the temperatureto stabilize.Several adjustments may be required. Adjust thecontrol(s) one increment at a time and allow 12 hoursafter each adjustment for the refrigerator to reach thetemperature you have set.Setting the refrigerator control to 0 stops cooling inboth the freezer and refrigerator compartments butdoes not shut off electrical power to the refrigerator.The freezer control (on some models) has no effect on electrical power to the refrigerator.Control settings will vary based on personal preferences, usage and operating conditions, and may requiremore than one adjustment. Factors that affect temperature include the amount of food in the refrigerator orfreezer, the frequency of door opening and the temperature of food when it is placed in the refrigerator.Installing the FilterCartridgeIf you are replacing thecartridge, first remove theold one. To open thecartridge cover, push inwhere indicated and thecover will drop down.Remove the cartridge byslowly rotating it to the left.A small amount of watermay drip down.CAUTION: If airhas been trapped in the system,the filter cartridge may beejected as it is removed. Usecaution when removing.Apply a month and yearsticker to the new cartridgeto remind you to replace itinsix months.Position the cartridgeinside the cartridge holderand slowly rotate thecartridge to the right untilit stops. When thecartridge is properlyinstalled, you will feel it“click” as it locks intoplace. The blade on theend of the cartridgeshould be positionedvertically.Do notovertighten.Close the cartridge cover.Run water from thedispenser for 3 minutes(about 11⁄ 2 gallons) to clearthe system and preventsputtering. (on some models)Water Filter CartridgeThe water filter cartridge islocated inside the cartridgeholder in the back upper rightcorner of the refrigeratorcompartment.NOTE: Some models ship with thefilter bypass plug in place of thefilter cartridge. The filter bypass plug needs to be removed beforethe filter cartridge is installed. Keep the filter bypass plug forfuture use.When to Replace the FilterThe filter cartridge should be replaced everysix months or earlierif the flow of water to the icemaker and dispenser decreases.Filter Bypass PlugYou must use the filter bypass plug whena replacement filter cartridge is not available.
