Pans should not touch eachother or the walls of the oven. If you needto use two shelves, stagger the pans so oneis not directly above the other, and leaveapproximately 11⁄2″ between pans, fromthe front, back and sides of the wall.Aluminum FoilYou can use aluminum foil to line thebroiler pan and broiler grid. However, you must mold the foil tightly to the gridand cut slits in it just like the grid.Without the slits, the foil will prevent fatand meat juices from draining into thebroiler pan. The juices could becomehot enough to catch on fire. If youdo not cut the slits, you are essentiallyfrying, not broiling.Do not use aluminum foil on the bottom ofthe oven.Never entirely cover a shelf withaluminum foil. This will disturb the heatcirculation and result in poor baking.A smaller sheet of foil may be used tocatch a spillover by placing it on a lowershelf several inches below the food.Cut slits in the foil just like the grid.
