Foods with a lot of acid (tomatoes,sauerkraut, fruit juices, etc.) or foods withhigh sugar content could cause a dull spotif allowed to set.When the surface has cooled, wash andrinse. For other spills such as fat spatterings,etc., wash with soap and water once thesurface has cooled. Then rinse and polishwith a dry cloth.Be careful when you clean the cooktopbecause the area over the pilot will be hot(on models with standing pilots).NOTE: Do not lift the cooktop on sealed burnermodels. Lifting the cooktop can lead to damageand improper operation of the range.NOTE: Do not store flammable materials inan oven or near the cooktop. Do not store oruse combustible materials, gasoline or otherflammable vapors and liquids in the vicinityof this or any other appliance.Lift-Up Cooktop (on models with standard twin burners)Clean the area under the cooktop often.Built-up soil, especially grease, may catchon fire.To make cleaning easier, the cooktop maybe lifted up.NOTE: Do not lift the cooktop on sealed burnermodels. Lifting the cooktop can lead to damageand improper operation of the range.To raise the cooktop:Be sure the burners are turned off.Remove the grates and drip pans(if so equipped).Grasp the two front burner wells andlift up.Clean under the cooktop with hot, soapywater and a clean cloth. If you removedyour surface burners while cleaning,make sure they are properly seated whenreplacing them.After cleaning, lower the cooktop (becareful not to pinch your fingers). Lowercooktop gently to avoid blowing out pilotflames (on standing pilot models).Replace drip pans (if so equipped) andgrates.Some models have dual support rodsthat will hold the cooktop up whileyou clean underneath it.
