If heavy spilloveroccurs, remove the surface burners from therange. Burners lift out for cleaning. Lift up thecooktop and then lift out the surface burners.To remove burned-on food, soak the surfaceburner in a solution of mild liquid detergentand hot water. Soakthe surface burner for 20to 30 minutes.For more stubborn stains, use a cleanser likeSoft Scrub®brand or Ban Ami®brand. Rinsewell to remove any traces of the cleanser thatmight clog the surface burner openings.Do not use steel wool because it will clog thesurface burner openings and scratch thesurface burners. If the holes become clogged,clean them with a sewing needle or twist-tie.Before putting the surface burner back, shakeout excess water and then dry it thoroughly bysetting it in a warm oven for 30 minutes. Thenplace it back in the range, making sure it isproperly seated and level.Checkthe flame pattern of each burner. If theflames are "jumpy" (not steady), clean the holesagain with a sewing needle or twist-tie.Cleaning Burner GratesLift out when cool. Grates should be washedregularly and, of course, after spillovers.Washthem in hot, soupy water and rinse with cleanwater. When replacing the grates, be surethey are positioned securely over the burners.Replace the grates so that continuous arcs areformed with the center ribs of all three grates.Do not operate a burner for an extendedperiod of time without cookwure on the grate.The finish on the grate may chip withoutcookware to absorb the heat.To get rid of burned-on food, place the gratesin a covered container. Add 1/4 cup ammoniaand let them soak several hours or overnight.Wash, rinse well and dry.Although they are durable, the grates willgradually losetheir shine, regardless of thebest care you can give them. This isdue totheir continual exposure to high temperatures.You will notice this sooner with lighter colorgrates.Clean these holesthoroughly on eachburner.13
