Do not installthe range over carpeting unless a sheet of1/4” thick plywood or similar insulator is placedbetween the range and carpeting.Mobile Home - Additional InstallationRequirementsThe installation of this range must conformto the Manufactured Home Construction andSafety Standard, Title 24 CFR, Part 3280(formerly the Federal Standard for MobileHome Construction and Saftey, Title 24,HUD Part 280). When such standard is notapplicable, use the Standard for ManufacturedHome Installations, ANSI A225.1/NFPA 501Aor with local codes.In Canada, the installation of this range mustconform with the current standards CAN/CSA-A240-latest edition, or with local codes.When this range is installed in a mobilehome, it must be secured to the floor duringtransit. Any method of securing the rangeis adequate as long as it conforms to thestandards listed above.WARNINGFIRE OR EXPLOSIONHAZARDIf the information in this manual is not followedexactly, a fire or explosion may result causingproperty damage, personal injury or death.Installation must be performed by a qualifiedinstaller.Read these instructions completely and carefully.Installation of this range must conform withlocal codes, or in the absence of local codes,with the National Fuel Gas Code, ANSI Z223.1/NFPA.54, latest edition. In Canada, installationmust conform with the current Natural GasInstallation Code, CAN/CGA-B149.1 or thecurrent Propane Installation Code, CAN/CGA-B149.2, and with local codes where applicable.This range has been design-certified byCSA International according to ANSI Z21.1,latest edition and Canadian Gas Associationaccording to CAN/CGA-1.1 latest edition.When installing a gas appliance the use ofold flexible connectors can cause gas leaksand personal injury. Always use a NEWflexible connector.Leak testing of the appliance shall be conductedaccording to the manufacturer instructions.The range must be electrically grounded inaccordance with local codes or, in the absenceof local codes, in accordance with the NationalElectrical Code (ANSI/NFPA 70, latest edition).In Canada, electrical grounding must bein accordance with the current CSA C22.1Canadian Electrical Code Part 1 and/or localcodes. See Electrical Connections in this section.Do not install this product with an air curtainhood or other range hood that operates byblowing air down on the cooktop. This airflowmay interfere with operation of the gas burnersresulting in fire or explosion hazard.1 GAS SUPPLYWARNING Fire Hazard: Do not usea flame to check for gas leaks.WARNING Explosion Hazard: Donot exceed 25 ft-lbs of torque when makinggas line connections. Overtightening maycrack the pressure regulator resulting in fireor explosion hazard.Gas Pressure RegulatorYou must use the gas pressure regulator suppliedwith this range. For proper operations the inletpressure to the regulator should be as follows:Natural Gas:Minimum pressure: 6” of Water ColumnMaximum pressure: 13” of Water ColumnPropane Gas:Minimum pressure: 11” of Water ColumnMaximum pressure: 13” of Water ColumnIf you are not sure about the inlet pressurecontact local gas supplier.Shut off the main gas supply valve beforedisconnecting the old range and leave it offuntil the new hook-up has been completed.Don’t forget to relight the pilot on other gasappliances when you turn the gas back on.Because hard piping restricts movement ofthe range, the use of a CSA International-certified flexible metal appliance connector isrecommended unless local codes require ahard-piped connection.If the hard piping method is used, you mustcarefully align the pipe; the range cannot bemoved after the connection is made.To prevent gas leaks, put pipe joint compoundon, or wrap pipe thread tape with Teflon*around, all male (external) pipe threads.A. Install a manual shut-off valve in the gas linein an easily accessed location outside of therange. Make sure everyone operating therange knows where and how to shut off thegas supply to the range.B. Install male 1/2” flare union adapter to the1/2” NPT internal thread at inlet of regulator.Use a backup wrench on the regulator fittingto avoid damage.C. Install male 1/2” or 3/4” flare union adapterto the NPT internal thread of the manualshut-off valve, taking care to back-up theshut-off valve to keep it from turning.D. Connect flexible metal appliance connectorto the adapter on the range. Position rangeto permit connection at the shut-off valve.E. When all connections have been made, makesure all range controls are in the off positionand turn on the main gas supply valve.Use a liquid leak detector at all joints andconnections to check for leaks in the system.When using pressures greater than 1/2 psigto pressure test the gas supply system of theresidence, disconnect the range and individualshut-off valve from the gas supply piping. Whenusing pressures of 1/2 psig or less to pressuretest the gas supply system, simply isolate therange from the gas supply system by closingthe individual shut-off valve.When checking for proper operation of theregulator, the inlet pressure must be at least 1”greater than the operating (manifold) pressureas given on rating label of product.*Teflon: Registered trademark of DuPont2 ELECTRICALCONNECTIONSWARNING Shock Hazard: Thisappliance must be properly grounded.Failure to do so can result in electric shock.Electrical Requirements - 120-volt, 60 Hertz,properly grounded dedicated circuit protectedby a 15-amp or 20-amp circuit breaker or timedelay fuse.NOTE: Use of automatic, wireless, or wiredexternal switches that shut off power to theappliance are not recommended for this product.GroundingThe power cord of this appliance is equippedwith a three-prong (grounding) plug which plugsinto a standard three-prong grounding wallreceptacle to minimize the possibility of electricshock hazard from this appliance.The customer should have the wall receptacleand circuit checked by a qualified electrician tomake sure the receptacle is properly grounded.Where a standard two-prong wall receptacle isencountered, it is the personal responsibility andobligation of the customer to have it replaced witha properly grounded three-prong wall receptacle.DO NOT, UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES,CUT OR REMOVE THE THIRD (GROUND)PRONG FROM THE POWER CORD. Performance of the range will not beaffected if operated on a GFCI-protected circuitbut occasional nuisance tripping of the GFCIbreaker is possible.4 CHECK SURFACEBURNERSPush and turn knob to LITE position. Youwill hear a clicking sound indicating properoperation of the spark module. Once the airhas been purged from the supply lines, burnersshould light within 4 seconds. After burnerlights, rotate knob out of the LITE position.Try each burner in succession until all burnershave been checked.Quality of FlamesThe flame quality of the burners needs to bedetermined visually.If burner flames look like (A), call for service.Normal burner flames should look like (B) or(C), depending on the type of gas you useWith propane gas, some yellow tipping on outercones is normal.FOR YOUR SAFETY:WARNING Before beginningthe installation, switch power off atservice panel and lock the servicedisconnecting means to prevent powerfrom being switched on accidentally.When the service disconnectingmeans cannot be locked, securelyfasten a prominent warning device,such as a tag, to the service panel.If you did not receive an anti-tip bracket with yourpurchase, call 1.800.626.8774 to receive one atno cost.
