USING YOUR OVENBefore Using Your Oven1. Look at the controls. Be sure you understandhow to set them properly. Read over the directionsfor the Oven Controls so you understand how touse them.2. Check the oven interior. Look at the shelves.Take a practice run at removing and replacingthem properly, to give sure, sturdy support.3. Read over the information and tips that follow.4. Keep this guide handy so you can refer to it,especially during the first weeks of using yournew oven.NOTE:l You may notice a “burning” or “oily” smell thefirst few times you turn your oven on. This isnormal in a new oven and will disappear in a shorttime. To speed the process, set a self-clean cycle fora minimum of 3 hours. See the Operating the Self-Cleaning Oven section.l A fan may automatically turn on and off to coolinternal parts. This is normal and the fan maycontinue to run even after the oven is turned off.Oven ShelvesThe shelves are designed with stop-locks so thatwhen placed correctly on the shelf supports, theywill stop before coming completely out from theoven, and will not tilt when you are removing foodfrom them or placing food on them.When placing the cookware on a shelf, pull theshelf out to the bump on the shelf support. Placethe cookware on the shelf, then slide the shelf backinto the oven. This will eliminate reaching into thehot oven.To remove the shelvesfrom the oven, pull themtoward you, tilt the frontend upward and pull theshelf out.To replace, place theshelf on the shelfsupport with the stop-locks (curved extensionof the shel~ facing up and toward the rear of theoven. Tilt up the front and push the shelf toward theback of the oven until it goes past the bump on theshelf support. Then lower the front of the shelf andpush it all the way back.Shelf PositionsThe oven has 4 shelf supports identified in thisillustration as A (bottom), B, C and D (top).Shelf positions for cooking are suggested in theBaking, Roasting and Broiling sections.Oven Lightsn Both of the lights come on automatically when either oven~ IZ- OVEN door is opened.~Q* LIGHT Use the pad on the control panel to turn the lights on and offwhen the doors are closed.9
