To remove the drip pans for cleaning,the surface units must be removed first.To remove a surface unit:Make sure the surface units and drippans are completely cool before touchingthem.Lift the surface unit about 1 inch abovethe drip pan and pull it out.Do not lift the surface unit more than 1inch. If you do, it may not lie flat on thedrip pan when you plug it back in.Repeated lifting of the surface unit morethan 1 inch above the drip pan canpermanently damage the receptacle.To clean the drip pans:Clean the drip pans by hand with warm,soapy water.To remove burned-on foods, soak themin hot, soapy water for several hours.Then scrub with a soap-filled plasticscouring pad if necessary.Rinse with clean water and polish witha clean soft cloth.The drip pans may also be cleaned ina dishwasher.Clean the area under the drip pansoften. Built-up soil, especially grease,may catch fire.Do not cover the drip pans with foil.
