The use of undersizedcookware will expose a portion of the surfaceunit to direct contact and may result in ignitionof clothing. Proper relationship of cookware tosurface unit will also improve efficiency. Only certain types of glass, glass/ceramic,earthenware or other glazed containers aresuitable for cooktop service; others may breakbecause of the sudden change in temperature. To minimize the possibility of burns, ignition offlammable materials and spillage, the handle of acontainer should be turned toward the center ofthe range without extending over nearby surfaceunits. When preparing flaming foods under a hood, turnthe fan on. If power is lost to an electric cooktop while asurface unit is ON, the surface unit will turn backon as soon as power is restored.
