You maydefrost small items morequickly by raising the powerlevel after entering the time.However, they will need morefrequent attention than usual.Power level 7 cuts the totaldefrosting time in about half;power level 10 cuts the totaltime to approximately 1/3.Rotate or stir food frequently.At one half of selecteddefrosting time, the ovensignals TURN. At this time, turnfood over and break apart orrearrange pieces for more evendefrosting. Shield any warmareas with small pieces of foil.A dull thumping noise maybe heard during defrosting. Thissound is normal when the ovenis not operating at High power.Defrosting Tips• Foods frozen in paper orplastic can be defrosted inthe package. Tightly closedpackages should be slit,pierced or vented AFTER foodhas partially defrosted. Plasticstorage containers should beat least partially uncovered.• Family-size, prepackagedfrozen dinners can bedefrosted and microwaved. Ifthe food is in a foil container,transfer it to a microwave-safe dish.• Foods that spoil easily, suchas milk, eggs, fish, stuffings,poultry and pork, should notbe allowed to sit outfor more than one hour afterdefrosting. Roomtemperature promotes thegrowth of harmful bacteria.• For more even defrosting oflarger foods, such as beef,lamb and veal roasts, useAuto Defrost.• Be sure large meats arecompletely defrosted beforecooking.• When defrosted, food shouldbe cool but softened in allareas.
