Installation DryerInstructions DPVH890 and UPVH89013BEFORE YOU BEGINRead these instructions completely and carefully.• IMPORTANT – Save these instructions for localelectrical inspector’s use.• IMPORTANT – Observe all governing codes andordinances.• Install the clothes dryer according to the manufacturer’sinstructions and local codes.• Note to Installer – Be sure to leave these instructionswith the Consumer.• Note to Consumer – Keep these instructions for futurereference.• Clothes dryer installation must be performed by aqualified installer.• This dryer must be exhausted to the outdoors.• Before the old dryer is removed from service ordiscarded, remove the dryer door.• Service information and the wiring diagram are locatedin the control console.• Do not allow children on or in the appliance. Closesupervision of children is necessary when the applianceis used near children.• Proper installation is the responsibility of the installer.• Product failure due to improper installation is notcovered under the Warranty.• Install the dryer where the temperature is above 50°Ffor satisfactory operation of the dryer control system.• Remove and discard existing plastic or metal foil ductand replace with UL-listed duct.Questions? If flexible metal (semi-rigid orfoil-type) duct is installed, it must be UL-listed andinstalled in accordance with the instructions foundin “Connecting the Dryer to House Vent” on page 25of this manual. Flexible ducting materials are knownto collapse, be easily crushed and trap lint. Theseconditions will obstruct dryer airflow and increasethe risk of fire.• Do not install or store this appliance in any locationwhere it could be exposed to water and/or weather.• Save these instructions. (Installers: Be sure to leavethese instructions with the customer.)FOR GAS MODELS ONLY:NOTE: Installation and service of this dryer must beperformed by a qualified installer, service agency orthe gas supplier.In the Commonwealth of Massachusetts:• This product must be installed by a licensedplumber or gas fitter.• When using ball-type gas shut-off valves, theyshall be T-handle-type.• A flexible gas connector, when used, must notexceed 3 feet.CALIFORNIA SAFE DRINKING WATERAND TOXIC ENFORCEMENT ACTThis act requires the governor of California to publish alist of substances known to the state to cause cancer,birth defects or other reproductive harm and requiresbusinesses to warn customers of potential exposure tosuch substances. Gas appliances can cause minorexposure to four of these substances, namely benzene,carbon monoxide, formaldehyde and soot, causedprimarily by the incomplete combustion of natural gasor LP fuels. Properly adjusted dryers will minimizeincomplete combustion. Exposure to these substancescan be minimized further by properly venting the dryerto the outdoors.
