17Cooking by Temperature Auto DefrostHow to Set Auto DefrostBefore you begin, check the guide located on theinside front of oven when you open the door.It shows minimum and maximum food weights fora variety of foods. You will need to know your foodweight before setting Auto Defrost.Step 1: Remove food from package, place in oven onmicrowave-safe dish and close door.Step 2: Touch AUTO DEFROST pad.Step 3: Enter weight. For example, touch numberpads 1 and 2 for weight of 1.2 pounds (1 pound,3 ounces). See Conversion Guide below. Afterapproximately 5 seconds “START” flashes.Step 4: Touch START pad. Display showsdefrost time counting down.Twice during defrosting,the oven beeps 4 timesand ‘‘TURn’’ flashes.Follow the directions inthe Auto Defrost Guidefor what to do at the firstand second signal. Then close the door and touchSTART pad.When defrosting time is completed, ‘‘End’’ flashesand oven beeps 4 times. ‘‘End’’ remains on displayand oven beeps every minute until door is opened orCLEAR/OFF pad is touched.STARTAUTODEFROSTAUTO DEFROSTAuto DefrostWith the Auto Defrost feature, the ovenautomatically sets the defrosting times and powerlevels for you.Use the Auto Defrost Guide. Enter the food weight inpounds and tenths of a pound (see Conversion Guidebelow). Then touch START pad.The oven calculates defrosting time and changes powerlevels during defrosting to give even defrosting results.After Auto Defrosting, meat needs to stand in order tolet the inside defrost. You may take the food out of theoven if you wish.
