Care and CleaningUSER MAINTENANCEINSTRUCTIONSl Wipe the cabinet with a dampcloth. Occasionally wash it withmild soap and water and then applya light coat of appliance polish tohelp preserve the finish.l Keep the area around andunderneath your appliance free fromthe accumulation of combustiblematerials such as lint, paper, rags,chemicals, etc.c Keep the floor around yourappliance clean and dry to reducethe possibility of slipping.l For long vacations, be surewater supply is shut off at faucets.Drain all water from hoses if theappliance will be exposed tofreezing weather.l Winterizing instructions:The washer cannot be operated infreezing temperatures. Before youstore the appliance, remove waterfrom all parts of the washer.1. Turn off water supply faucets.(The front access panel betweenwasher and dryer may have to beremoved. See procedure at right. )Disconnect hoses from faucetsand drain.2. Add 1 gallon of non-toxic RVantifreeze (available from thehardware or recreational vehiclestore) to the washer tub.3. Push the timer knob in, turn theknob to the right to SPIN and pullthe knob out.4. Let the washer spin for I or 2minutes to let all water drain out.Some but not all of the RVantifreeze will be expelled.5. Push in the timer knob, drythe tub interior, disconnect theelectrical plug, close the lid.6. Store the appliance in an uprightposition.7. Before reusing washer, afterstorage, run washer through a cycleto rinse out the antifreeze.Washerl Lint flllter. The self-cleaning lintfilter needs no attention from you.l Washbasket. After each use,leave the lid open to allow moistureto evaporate. Clean thoroughly withnonabrasive household cleanser toremove deposit left by heavily soiledclothes. Do not use harsh cleansers.“ Agitator. Remove the agitator atregular intervals—about 4 to 6months—and remove any lint thatmay have accumulated. Afterremoving the front access panel, asshown at right, unscrew the agitatorcap, grasp the agitator with bothhands, and pull it up and out of thewashbasket.The slotted section at the top of themetal shaft has a light coating oflubricant to prevent parts fromsticking together. If this area appearsto be dry, apply a light coat ofgrease or petroleum jelly aroundthe shaft before replacing theagitator. Do not overgrease. Excessgrease may get into the clothes load,When replacing the agitator,carefully lower it straight downonto the agitator support block andreplace the cap securely.DryerIf your dryer is exhausted to theoutside, inspect and clean the dryerexhaust ducting at least once ayear.How to reduce the possibility ofa fire hazard, if your dryer is notexhausted to the outside:A clothes dryer produces combustiblelint. When the dryer is not exhaustedto the outside, this lint is more aptto accumulate in and near the dryer,which could create a fire hazard.25. Clean the lint filter before everyload. See page 7.l Inspect the area behind the frontaccess panel at least once a yearand clean out any lint that may haveaccumulated. Wipe or lacuum, beingcareful not to disturb any electricalor mechanical connections.How to remove the frontaccess panel between thewasher and dryerTake out 2 screws holding themagnet assembly and removethe magnet assembly.Then take out 2 screws at topcorners of access panel and liftaccess panel up until tabs at botto]of panel slip out of slots at rear ofwasher.The washer lid can now be openelenough to allow you to remove thfagitator, and the dryer exhaustducting is accessible for inspecticand cleaning.To replace the front access panel,fit tabs on panel into slots at rear ~washer, push panel back in placeand replace screws and magnetassembly.
