DefrostingtipsUse AUTO DEFROST for meat, poultry andfish. Use TIME DEFROST for most otherfrozen foods.■ Foods frozen in paper or plastic canbe time defrosted in the package,but foods should be taken out of thepackage when using DEFROST (AUTO).Closed packages should be slit, piercedor vented after food has partiallydefrosted. Plastic storage containersshould be partially uncovered.■ Family-size, prepackaged frozendinners can be defrosted andmicrowaved. If the food is in a foilcontainer, transfer it to a microwave-safe dish.■ Foods that spoil easily should notbe allowed to sit out for more thanone hour after defrosting. Roomtemperature promotes the growthof harmful bacteria.■ For more even defrosting of largerfoods, such as roasts, use DEFROST(AUTO).
