NOTE: Auto Guidance is available with premium charts, in someareas.You can set the parameters the chartplotter uses whencalculating an Auto Guidance line.Safe Depth: Sets the minimum depth (chart depth datum) thechartplotter uses when calculating an Auto Guidance line.NOTE: The minimum safe depth for the premium charts is 3feet. If you enter a Safe Depth value of less than 3 feet, thecharts only use depths of 3 feet for Auto Guidance routecalculations.Safe Height: Sets the minimum height (chart height datum) of abridge that your boat can safely travel under.Shoreline Distance: Sets how close to the shore you want theAuto Guidance line to be placed. The Auto Guidance linemay move if you change this setting while navigating. Theavailable values for this setting are relative, not absolute. Toensure that the Auto Guidance line is placed the appropriatedistance from shore, you can assess the placement of theAuto Guidance line using one or more familiar destinationsthat require navigation through a narrow waterway (Adjustingthe Distance from Shore, page 24).Adjusting the Distance from ShoreCAUTIONThe Auto Guidance feature is based on electronic chartinformation. That data does not ensure obstacle and bottomclearance. Carefully compare the course to all visual sightings,and avoid any land, shallow water, or other obstacles that maybe in your path.NOTE: Auto Guidance is available with premium charts, in someareas.The Shoreline Distance setting indicates how close to the shoreyou want the Auto Guidance line to be placed. The AutoGuidance line may move if you change this setting whilenavigating. The available values for the Shoreline Distancesetting are relative, not absolute. To ensure the Auto Guidanceline is placed the appropriate distance from shore, you canassess the placement of the Auto Guidance line using one ormore familiar destinations that require navigation through anarrow waterway.1 Dock your vessel or drop the anchor.2 Select Settings > Navigation > Auto Guidance > ShorelineDistance > Normal.3 Select a destination that you have navigated to previously.4 Select Navigate To > Guide To.5 Review the placement of the Auto Guidance line, anddetermine whether the line safely avoids known obstaclesand the turns enable efficient travel.6 Select an option:• If the placement of the Auto Guidance line is satisfactory,select MENU > Stop Navigation, and proceed to step 10.• If the Auto Guidance line is too close to known obstacles,select Settings > Navigation > Auto Guidance >Shoreline Distance > Far.• If the turns in the Auto Guidance line are too wide, selectSettings > Navigation > Auto Guidance > ShorelineDistance > Near.7 If you selected Near or Far in step 6, review the placement ofthe Auto Guidance line, and determine whether the linesafely avoids known obstacles and the turns enable efficienttravel.Auto Guidance maintains a wide clearance from obstacles inopen water, even if you set the Shoreline Distance setting toNear or Nearest. As a result, the chartplotter may notreposition the Auto Guidance line, unless the destinationselected requires navigation through a narrow waterway.10Repeat steps 3 through 9 at least once more, using adifferent destination each time, until you are familiar with thefunctionality of the Shoreline Distance setting.Other Vessel SettingsWhen your compatible chartplotter is connected to an AISdevice or VHF radio, you can set up how other vessels aredisplayed on the chartplotter.Select Settings > Other Vessels.AIS: Enables and disables AIS signal reception.DSC: Enables and disables digital selective calling (DSC).AIS/MARPA Alarm: Sets the collision alarm (Setting the Safe-Zone Collision Alarm, page 5 and Enabling AIS TransmissionTest Alerts, page 5).Viewing System Software InformationYou can view the software version, the basemap version, anysupplemental map information (if applicable), the softwareversion for an optional Garmin radar (if applicable), and the unitID number. You may need this information to update the systemsoftware or to purchase additional map data information.Select Settings > System > System Information >Software Information.Restoring the Original Chartplotter FactorySettingsNOTE: This will delete all settings information you have entered.Select Settings > System > System Information > FactorySettings.Chartplotter Data ManagementCopying Waypoints, Routes, and Tracks to aChartplotterBefore you can copy data to the chartplotter, you must have thelatest version of MapSource®or HomePort™ software programsloaded on your computer and a memory card installed in thechartplotter.Select an option:• Copy the data from HomePort to the prepared memorycard.For more information, see the HomePort help file.• Copy the data from MapSource to the prepared memorycard.For more information, see the MapSource help file.24 Chartplotter Data Management |
