Place the pointed end of the cable tie throughthe fastener hole on the opposite end and pull itthrough until it is snug but not tight. (The cable tieclicks when you pull it.)5. Position the transducer so that it is parallel with thebottom when in use, and make sure the gasket isaligned properly. Pull the cable tie end until tight.Trim off the excess, if necessary. Tighten the 10-32locking nut until it touches the mounting bracket andthen tighten 1/4 turn more. (Do not overtighten.)6. Route the 30’ (9 m) transducer cable using thesupplied cable ties to secure the cable to the motorshaft. You can fill the forward-facing portion (exceptthe cable tie pocket) of the transducer mount withsealant to avoid accumulating debris.Mounting the Transducer on a TransomWhen selecting a transom mount location, consider thefollowing for optimal performance:• For your sonar to operate properly, the transducermust be located in calm water. DO NOT mount thetransducer behind strakes, rivet lines, struts, fittings,water intake, discharge ports, eroding paint, oranything that creates turbulence.• Mount the transducer as close to the center of theboat as possible.• DO NOT cut the transducer lead. (This voids yourwarranty.)• DO NOT mount the transducer in locations where itmight be jarred when launching, hauling, trailering,or storage.• DO NOT mount the transducer in the path of theprop on single-drive boats. The transducer can causecavitation that can degrade the boat’s performanceand damage the prop. On twin-drive boats, mountthe transducer between the drives, if possible.
