To use SiriusXM satellite radio, you must havea compatible satellite radio receiver. Go to www.garmin.com formore information. You must also have a valid subscription toreceive satellite weather and radio. For more information, referto the instructions for your satellite weather and radioequipment.Weather Data BroadcastsWeather data is broadcast at different intervals for each weatherfeature. For example, radar is broadcast at five-minute intervals.When the Garmin receiver is turned on, or when a differentweather feature is selected, the receiver must receive new databefore it can be shown. You might experience a delay beforeweather data or a different feature appears on the chart.NOTE: Any weather feature can change in appearance if thesource that provides the information changes.Changing the Weather Chart1 From a combination screen or SmartMode layout with aweather chart, select Menu > Weather Menu > ChangeWeather.2 Select a weather chart.Viewing Precipitation InformationPrecipitation ranging from very light rain and snow, up to strongthunderstorms, is indicated in varying shades and colors.Precipitation is shown either independently or with other weatherinformation.Select Charts > Precipitation.The time stamp in the upper-left corner of the screenindicates the elapsed time since the weather data providerlast updated the information.Precipitation ViewsFrom the precipitation weather chart, select Menu.RADAR Loop: Shows precipitation information as an image ofthe latest update or as an animated loop of the latestupdates. The time stamp indicates the elapsed time since theservice provider generated the weather radar frame currentlydisplayed on the screen.Cloud Cover: Shows cloud cover data.Waypoints: Shows waypoints.Legend: Shows the weather legend.Storm Cell and Lightning InformationStorm cell are represented by on the weather precipitationchart. They indicate both the present position of a storm and theprojected path of that storm in the immediate future.Red cones appear with a storm cell icon, and the widest part ofeach cone points in the direction of the projected path of thestorm cell. The red lines in each cone indicate where the stormwill most likely be in the near future. Each line represents 15minutes.Lightning strikes are represented by . Lightning appears on theweather precipitation chart if strikes were detected within the lastseven minutes. The ground-based lightning detection networkdetects cloud-to-ground lightning only.NOTE: This feature is not available on all devices and in allsubscriptions.Hurricane InformationThe weather Precipitation chart can show the present position ofa hurricane , a tropical storm, or a tropical depression. A redline stemming from a hurricane icon indicates the projected pathof the hurricane. Darkened dots on the red line indicate theprojected locations through which the hurricane will pass, asreceived from the weather data provider.Weather Warnings and Weather BulletinsWhen a marine weather warning, weather watch, weatheradvisory, weather bulletin, or other weather statement is issued,shading indicates the area to which the information applies. Theaqua lines on the chart indicate the boundaries of marineforecasts, coastal forecasts, and offshore forecasts.
