GRA 5500 Installation Manual 190-01277-00Page 2-14 Rev. A2.6 Cooling RequirementsDedicated cooling is not required for the GRA 5500 to meet indicated EQF categories. Thermal analysismust be performed to verify that high temperature limits implied by the indicated EQF categories for theGRA 5500 are not exceeded during normal operation of the aircraft. Guidance can be found in the GarminIntegrated Avionics System Thermal Management Plan document (GPN 190-00313-50) and the GarminIntegrated Avionics System Thermal Validation Procedure (GPN 190-00313-51).Contact Garmin for additional cooling guidance.2.7 Mounting RequirementsThe GRA 5500 mounting surface should be capable of providing a sufficient electrical bond to the aircraftto minimize Electromagnetic Interference (EMI) and provide protection from High-Intensity RadiationFields (HIRF). Bonding resistance measured between the GRA 5500 mounting rack and the airframeshould measure less than 2.5 milliohms. The GRA 5500 must be mounted in the vertical position using theGRA 5500 mounting rack.
