The FM TMCtraffic information is received through radio signalstransmitted by independent service providers. With theGTM 10 in your vehicle, you can see traffic problemsdown the road and avoid them! This section providesan overview of the traffic data. NOTE: The GTM 10 and GPS device must be indata range of an FM station that is transmittingTMC data to receive traffic information. Thedata range of an FM station is not as far as thelistening range. NOTE: Garmin is not responsible for theaccuracy of the traffic information. The GTM 10simply receives signals from the traffic serviceprovider and displays that information on yourGPS device.Although each model of GPS device operatesdifferently, they all provide the same basic trafficinformation.Symbols on the MapThe map displays icons that represent traffic events.For example, the map might show a constructionsymbol meaning that roadwork is in progress in thatarea. The symbols vary by region but are highlyrecognizable.Traffic Information ListsEach traffic event is displayed in a list. You can readthe list for incidents in your path and in your area.Route ChangesIf you are navigating a route, your GPS device givesyou the option to alter your route and avoid trafficincidents.
