AFMS, Garmin GTN GPS/SBAS System 190-01007-A2 Rev. 6Page 377.18 Depiction of Obstacles and Wires7.18.1 Dedicated Terrain PageThe dedicated Terrain page will always depict point obstacles at zoom scales of10 nm or less and depict wire obstacles at zoom scales of 5 nm or less. Theobstacle or wire overlay icon (see Figure 3) will be shown near the bottom of thedisplay when the obstacle or wire depiction is active based on the zoom scale.NOTEOnly obstacles and wires within 2,000 feet vertically of theaircraft will be drawn on the Terrain page. It is thereforepossible to have an obstacle or wire overlay icon displayedwith no obstacles or wires being depicted on the display.Figure 3 – Obstacle Overlay Icon (Left), Wire Overlay Icon (Right)7.18.2 Map PageThe Map page may be configured to depict point obstacles and wire obstacles atvarious zoom scales by the pilot by using the Map page menu. The obstacle orwire overlay icon (see Figure 4) will be shown near the bottom of the displaywhen the obstacle or wire overlay is active based on the current zoom scale andsetting selected by the pilot.The settings chosen by the pilot on the Map page menu (including obstacle andwire display ranges) are saved over a power cycle.NOTEOnly obstacles and wires within 2,000 feet vertically of theaircraft will be drawn on the Map page.
