40 StreetPilot 7200/7500 Owner’s ManualC USTOMIZING YOUR STREETPILOTVoice Language—change the language for all voiceprompts and messages. Touch the voice you want touse and touch OK. To delete that voice from yourStreetPilot, touch Delete and OK.Your StreetPilot contains two different types of voicelanguages: text-to-speech and pre-recorded.Languages noted with a person’s name and (TTS) aretext-to-speech (TTS) voices: for example, AmericanEnglish-Jill (TTS) is a text-to-speech voice. The text-to-speech voices “read” and “speak” the same words thatappear on the StreetPilot. The voices have an extensivevocabulary, and they pronounce the street names as youapproach turns.Languages without a person’s name are pre-recordedvoices, which have a limited vocabulary and do notspeak names of locations or streets.NOTE: If you change the voice language, yourStreetPilot must restart to complete this change.Text Language—change the on-screen text to theselected language. Changing the text language does notchange the language of map data or user-entered data.Speech Rate—select the rate for voice prompts.Customizing the KeyboardFrom the Menu page, touch Settings > General >Keyboard.Input Type—select the English Only keyboard, orselect West European to use diacritical characters.Customizing the Audio SettingsFrom the Menu page, touch Settings > General >Audio.Guidance—turn on the vocal guidance prompts. SelectSpeak Key Only to hear the prompts only when youpress the SPEAK key on the remote control.Attention Tone—turn on or off the attention tonesounded before voice prompts.
