eTrex Owner’s Manual 7Getting StartedBattery Information‹ WARNINGThe temperature rating for the device(-4°F to 158°F, or -20 to 70°C) mayexceed the usable range of somebatteries. Alkaline batteries can ruptureat high temperatures.noticeAlkaline batteries lose a significantamount of their capacity as temperaturedecreases. Therefore, use lithiumbatteries when operating the device inbelow-freezing conditions.Installing AA BatteriesThe device operates on two AAbatteries. You can use alkaline, NiMH,or lithium batteries. Use NiMH orlithium batteries for best results.1. Turn the D-ring counter-clockwise,and pull up to remove the cover.2. Insert the batteries, observingpolarity.3. Replace the battery cover, and turnthe D-ring clockwise.4. Hold .5. Select Setup > System > BatteryType.6. Select Alkaline, Lithium, orRechargeable NiMH. |
