You can create boundary areas, lines, and circles using themap. You can also convert saved tracks and routes intoboundary lines. You can create a boundary area usingwaypoints by creating a route from the waypoints, andconverting the route into a boundary line.You can select a boundary to act as the active boundary. Youcan add the active boundary data to the data fields on the chart.Creating a Boundary1 Select User Data > Boundaries > New Boundary.2 Select a boundary shape.3 Follow the on-screen instructions.Boundary Display SettingsSelect User Data > Boundaries > Display Options.Distance/Bearing: Allows you to hide or display the bearing anddistance to your destination for the active boundary.Chart Display: Allows you to hide or display boundaries on thechart.Color: Sets the color of boundaries on the chart.Converting a Route to a BoundaryBefore you can convert a route to a boundary, you must createand save at least one route (Creating and Saving a Route,page 12).1 Select User Data > Routes & Auto Guidance Paths.2 Select a route.3 Select Edit Route > Save as Boundary.Converting a Track to a BoundaryBefore you can convert a track to a boundary, you must recordand save at least one track (Saving the Active Track, page 12).1 Select User Data > Tracks.2 Select a track.3 Select Edit Track > Save as Boundary.Editing a Boundary1 Select User Data > Boundaries.2 Select a boundary.3 Select Edit Boundary.4 Select an option:• To edit the appearance of the boundary on the chart,select Display Options.• To change the boundary lines or name, select EditBoundary.• To edit the boundary alarm, select Alarm.Setting a Boundary AlarmBoundary alarms alert you when you are within a specifieddistance of a set boundary.1 Select User Data > Boundaries.2 Select a boundary.3 Select Alarm > On.4 Enter a distance.5 Select an option.• To set an alarm to sound when your boat is a specifieddistance from the boundary of an area that you want tostay within, select Exiting.• To set an alarm to sound when your boat is a specifieddistance from the boundary of an area that you want toavoid, select Entering.Deleting a Boundary1 Select User Data > Boundaries.2 Select a boundary.3 Select Edit Boundary > Delete.AutopilotWARNINGYou can use the autopilot feature only at a station installed nextto a helm, throttle, and helm control device.You are responsible for the safe and prudent operation of yourvessel. The autopilot is a tool that enhances your capability tooperate your boat. It does not relieve you of the responsibility ofsafely operating your boat. Avoid navigational hazards andnever leave the helm unattended.Always be prepared to promptly regain manual control of yourboat.Learn to operate the autopilot on calm and hazard-free openwater.Use caution when operating the autopilot near hazards in thewater, such as docks, pilings, and other boats.The autopilot system continuously adjusts the steering of yourboat to maintain a constant heading (heading hold). The systemalso allows manual steering and several modes of automatic-steering functions and patterns.Autopilot ScreenÀ Actual headingÁ Intended heading (heading the autopilot is steering toward)Â Actual heading (when in standby mode)Intended heading (when engaged)Ã Rudder position indicator (This functionality is available only when arudder sensor is connected.)Adjusting the Step Steering Increment1 From the Autopilot screen, select MENU > Autopilot Setup >Step Turn Size.2 Select an increment.Setting the Power SaverYou can adjust the level of rudder activity.1 From the autopilot screen, select MENU > Autopilot Setup >Power Mode Setup > Power Saver.2 Select a percentage.Selecting a higher percentage reduces rudder activity andheading performance. The higher the percentage, the morethe course deviates before the autopilot corrects it.TIP: In choppy conditions at low speeds, increasing thePower Saver percentage reduces rudder activity.Engaging the AutopilotWhen you engage the autopilot, the autopilot takes control of thehelm and steers the boat to maintain your heading.From any screen, select Engage.Your intended heading shows in the center of the Autopilotscreen.Autopilot 15
