DIGITAL CLOCK MODEL CLK036GEKCO INC. Rev 1.0 13Install the IC on the main circuit board:( ) U1: ATMEGA328P ICThis completes the assembly.7. Final TestsUsing a multi-meter to measure resistanceperform the following checks.( ) Verify that the resistance with thepositive lead on U5 pin 20 and negative lead onpin 10, is greater than 2k ohms.( ) Connect the plug in transformer T1 topower connector PS1 and plug into a walloutlet and verify that the voltage with thepositive lead on U5 pin 20 and negative lead onpin 10, is 5V.8. In Case Of DifficultyThe “Visual Checks” that are provided belowwill help you locate any difficulties that mightoccur during the assembly and testing of yourDigital Clock. Additional “ In Case of Difficulty”information is also provided in your OperationManual. In an extreme case where you are unable toresolve a difficulty, refer to the “CustomerService” information at the back of the Manual.VISUAL CHECKS1. The majority of kits that fail are due to poorsolder connections. Therefore, you caneliminate many difficulties by carefullyinspecting each connection to make sure itis soldered as described in the solderinstructions section. Reheat any doubtfulconnections.2. Check the circuit board to be sure thereare no solder bridges between adjacentconnections.3. Check capacitor values carefully. Be surethe proper value part is installed at eachcapacitor location and that the negative( ) mark or a positive ( ) mark isoriented correctly.4. Check each resistor value carefully.5. Be sure the correct diode is installed ateach location, and that the banded end ispositioned correctly.6. Check the orientation and the correct partnumber of the Integrated Circuits. Use thepictorial diagrams as a reference.9. Final PCA Assembly( ) Locate the RTC module and install onthe clock main board as shown. Figure 8 RTC Module Assembly10. Final AssemblySkip these steps if the enclosure is not used.( ) Unpack the 6 piece enclosure whichincludes a transparent red front piece, andclear back, top, bottom and side panels.( ) Remove the paper backing on all theenclosure pieces.
