Page 4OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS1. Make sure that the VOLTAGE SELECTOR SLIDE SWITCH (18), foundon the rear panel, is set for the proper voltage. Plug the unit in andpress the POWER SWITCH (1). The unit will turn on. Pushing thePOWER SWITCH (1) a second time will turn the unit off.2. Press the OPEN/CLOSE BUTTON (3), place a CD in the DISC TRAY (2)and press the OPEN/CLOSE BUTTON (3) again. The tray will close intothe unit. The display will initially show the number of tracks and the totaltime of the CD.3. Push the TRACK SKIP BUTTONS (6) to select the track you want toplay.4. Press the PLAY/PAUSE BUTTON (7) and the unit will instantly play.CUE INSTRUCTIONS1. To start the play at a point other than the beginning of a track, followthese instructions:First choose the track you wish to play, and then press the PLAY/PAUSE BUTTON (7) so the unit goes into the play mode. Press thePLAY/PAUSE BUTTON (7) to pause play at the spot where you wantthe play to start the CUE POINT. Use the SEARCH BUTTONS (8) to pickthe precise spot you want play to begin, then press the PLAY/PAUSEBUTTON (7) again to save the cue point. Press the CUE BUTTON (5) topause play at the cue point (the unit will go into the pause mode and thelocation indicated on the display will be the memorized cue point). Youcan preview the cue point by pressing and holding down the CUEBUTTON (5). Press the PLAY/PAUSE BUTTON (7) to begin play fromthe cue point.2. Once you have saved a cue point you can fine tune or change thememorized cue point:To change a cue point, push the PLAY/PAUSE BUTTON (7) so the unitplays from the cue point, then press the PLAY/PAUSE BUTTON (7) atthe spot you wish your new cue point. Press the PLAY/PAUSEBUTTON (7) again to save the cue point. The unit will go into the pausemode and the location indicated on the display will be the new memo-rized cue point.To fine tune a cue point, pause play at the memorized cue point, thenuse the SEARCH BUTTONS (8) to scan frame by frame (1/75th of asecond) to where you want play to begin. Press the PLAY/PAUSEBUTTON (7) to save the new cue point.Note: During fine tuning there will be a stutter effect (to help youfind the beat). The stuttering effect will end when you pressthe PLAY/PAUSE BUTTON (7) to save the cue point. Also, duringfine tuning if you hold down the SEARCH BUTTONS (8), the unitwill scan quickly after 10 frames.ROBO START INSTRUCTIONSIN SINGLE-AUTO CUE MODE:Use ROBO START in SINGLE-AUTO CUE MODE to alternate play betweenthe two sides of the CD player (one track from one side, then one trackfrom the other side). In SINGLE-AUTO CUE MODE play starts immediatelyfrom the start of music without any blank space (which exists at thebeginning of every track). ROBO START causes one side of the CD playerto play, while the other side is paused.1. Engage SINGLE-AUTO CUE MODE with the SINGLE-AUTO CUE/CONTINUOUS (11) button.2. Press the ROBO START (15) button to activate ROBO START (thebutton will blink). Play will alternate between the two sides of the CDplayer. At the end of the track, the playing side will pause, and the otherside will play. At the end of this track, the playing side will pause, andthe other side will play. The CD player will continue to alternate betweenthe two sides until you stop it (after the last track of the CD, it goes backto the first track).NOTE: Pausing the playing side in the middle of a track will causethe other side to play. When that track ends, play will beginfrom the middle of the track where play was paused.IN CONTINUOUS MODE OR DURING NORMAL PLAY:If you use ROBO START without SINGLE-AUTO CUE MODE (in CONTINU-OUS MODE or during normal play), play will not alternate automatically.Pressing pause on the playing side will cause the other side to play.1. During normal play, set a cue point on the other side of the CD player.2. Press the ROBO START (15) button to activate ROBO START (thebutton will blink).3. Press PLAY/PAUSE BUTTON (7) on the playing side to begin play fromthe cue point on the other side.TROUBLE SHOOTING• If the disk will not play, check to see if the disc was loaded correctly(label side up). Also check the disc for excessive dirt, scratches, etc.• If the disc turns but there is no sound, check the cable connections. Ifthey are okay, check your amplifier or receiver.• If the CD skips, check the CD for dirt or scratches. Do not assume thatthe CD player is defective. Many CDs are recorded out of spec and willskip on most or all CD players.
