Managing Power 3-3Battery PackThe Li-ion battery pack is the internal power source for the computerwhen the AC power is “Off” or not connected. It is rechargeable using theAC adapter. The removable battery pack, with on-line charge capacity,comes standard with your computer. It has 107 watt operating capacity.The computer supports up to three Li-ion battery packs: Primary, Bay1,and Bay2 (Bay1 and Bay2 are optional).The operating time of a fully charged battery pack depends on how youare using the computer. When your applications often access peripherals,you will experience a shorter operating time.NOTE: Care and maintenance information for the battery is provided in the “BatteryPack Guidelines” section in Chapter 7.Charging the Battery PackNOTE:z Charging will not start if the battery’s temperature is below 0 °C (32 °F) or above50 °C (122 °F).z The charging process will stop when the battery’s temperature gets above 60 °C(140 °F). If this happens, the battery pack may be damaged. Please contact yourdealer.z During charging, do not disconnect the AC adapter before the battery has been fullycharged; otherwise you will get a prematurely charged battery.To charge the battery pack, connect the AC adapter to the computer andan electrical outlet. The Battery Charge Indicator ( ) on the computerglows amber to indicate that charging is in progress. You are advised tokeep the computer power off while the battery is being charged. When thebattery is fully charged, the Battery Charge Indicator glows green.The sequence of charging is Primary, then Bay1 and Bay2 battery packs.
