5-2 Using BIOS Setup and System RecoveryBIOS SetupWhen and How to UseYou need to run BIOS Setup Utility when: You see an error message on the screen requesting you to run BIOSSetup Utility. You want to restore the factory default BIOS settings. You want to modify some specific settings according to the hardware. You want to modify some specific settings to optimize the systemperformance.NOTE: The BIOS Setup Utility supports touchscreen operation. However, youare advised to connect a USB keyboard before running BIOS Setup. Akeyboard provides complete and easy controls over the utility. Theinstructions in this chapter are based on keyboard operations.To run BIOS Setup utility, press the F2 key when the prompt (“Press F2 forSystem Utilities”) appears at the bottom left corner of the screen duringsystem startup. The prompt shows up on the screen for only a few seconds.You must press the F2 key quickly. The BIOS Setup Utility main screenappears.In general, you can use the arrow keys to move around and + / – keys tochange the setup values. Keyboard information can be found at the bottomof the screen.NOTE: The BIOS Setup Utility screens shown in this chapter are for yourreference only. The actual items or settings on your Tablet PC maydiffer. The BIOS Setup Utility program may have been updated after thepublication of this manual.
