27Battery PackThe battery pack is the internal power source for the Tablet PC. It isrechargeable using the AC adapter.NOTE: Care and maintenance information for the battery is provided in the“Battery Pack Guidelines” section in Chapter 7.Charging the Battery PackNOTE: Charging will not start if the battery’s temperature is outside the allowedrange, which is between 0 °C (32 °F) and 50 °C (122 °F). Once the battery’stemperature meets the requirements, charging automatically resumes. During charging, do not disconnect the AC adapter before the batteryhas been fully charged; otherwise you will get a prematurely chargedbattery.To charge the battery pack, connect the AC adapter to the Tablet PC and anelectrical outlet. The Battery Indicator ( ) on the Tablet PC glows amber toindicate that charging is in progress. You are advised to keep the Tablet PCpower off while the battery is being charged. When the battery is fullycharged, the Battery Indicator glows green.It takes approximately 3 hours to fully charge the battery pack when thepower is off and approximately 3.5 hours when the power is on (may need alonger charging time at lower temperatures).CAUTION: After the Tablet PC has been fully recharged, do not immediatelydisconnect and reconnect the AC adapter to charge it again. Doing so maydamage the battery.NOTE: The battery level may automatically lessen due to the self-dischargeprocess (0.21% per day), even when the battery pack is fully charged (100%).This happens no matter if the battery pack is installed in the Tablet PC.
