The CLI prompt (such as ) appears if the passwordis correct. If all VTY user interfaces of the switch are in use, you will fail to establish theconnection and receive the message that says “All user interfaces are used, please trylater!”. A H3C series Ethernet switch can accommodate up to five Telnet connections atsame time.Step 6: After successfully Telneting to a switch, you can configure the switch or displaythe information about the switch by executing corresponding commands. You can alsotype ? at any time for help. Refer to the following chapters for the information about thecommands.Note:z A Telnet connection will be terminated if you delete or modify the IP address of theVLAN interface in the Telnet session.z By default, commands of level 0 are available to Telnet users authenticated bypassword. Refer to the Basic System Configuration and Maintenance module forinformation about command hierarchy.3.5.2 Telneting to Another Switch from the Current SwitchYou can Telnet to another switch from the current switch. In this case, the current switchoperates as the client, and the other operates as the server. If the interconnectedEthernet ports of the two switches are in the same LAN segment, make sure the IPaddresses of the two management VLAN interfaces to which the two Ethernet portsbelong to are of the same network segment, or the route between the two VLANinterfaces is available.
