To guarantee the performance of this cooling system, you must consider theventilation design for the installation site when you plan the installation site for the S5500-HI switch.Cooling system of the S5500-28SC-HI and S5500-52SC-HIThe fan trays available for the S5500-28SC-HI and S5500-52SC-HI switches include LSPM1FAN andLSPM1FANB.IMPORTANT:The chassis and the power modules use separate air aisles. Make sure both aisles are not blocked.• When an LSPM1FAN fan tray is used, ambient air flows in through the air vents in the fan tray paneland the power module panels, circulates through the chassis and the power modules, and exhaustsat the port side.• When an LSPM1FANB fan tray is used, ambient air flows in through the air vents in the port-sidepanel and the power module panels, circulates through the chassis and the power modules, andexhausts through the air vents in the fan tray panel.Cooling system of the other models in the switch seriesThe S5500-HI switch uses built-in fans and left-right aisles for air ventilation. Ambient air flows in throughthe air vents at the left side of chassis (the direction subject to the user facing the front panel of thechassis), circulates through the chassis and the power modules, and exhausts at the right side of thechassis and the air outlet vents of the power modules. The chassis and power modules use independentaisles, which must be kept clear when the switch is operating. For different switch models, design the cooling system as follows:
