HAMWORTHY HEATING LTD21FLEET H series 500001212/F7.2 Checks prior to lighting the boilerNote: Refer to Appendix A, Gas Data Tables, formaximum inlet pressure for normal operation.7.2.1 The Following checks must be made priorto lighting the boiler;1. Open the front cover to gain access to the boilercomponents. The cover is secured with a 1/4 turnlatch, requiring a flat blade screw driver to operate thelatch. Carefully lift off the cover to expose the boilercomponents and installer wiring connections.Note: Before starting the boiler commissioningprocedure verify the following;2. Ensure that all external controls are not demandingthat the boiler commences operation.3. Ensure that the gas supply is connected, but theboiler module gas service valve(s) are closed, anyunions or fittings are correctly tightened and testpoints are closed.4. Check that the heating system has been flushedand refilled and that air has been purged from all highpoints.5. Ensure that the system isolating valves are in theopen position and that the water pressure within theheating system is correct. Minimum pressure 0.5barg.6. Ensure that the flue ducts are correctly fitted andthat they are free from obstruction. Check that theinlet and outlet terminal are located correctly and inaccordance with regulations.7. Ensure that the gas supply has been properlypurged and verified for gas soundness. A purge andsoundness certificate should be available from thegas pipe work installation contractor.8. Turn on the mains gas supply. Check that sufficientgas pressure is available at the boiler, 17.5mbarNatural Gas.10.Ensure that all electrical connections made to theboiler are correctly sized and installed. Refer to wiringdiagram in Figure 9.3.111 Check that the boiler controls wiring has not beenmodified. Any modification could lead to boiler failure.7.2.2 Gas inlet pressure testThe gas pressure must be checked at the inlet to theboiler as shown in figure 7.2.2. This is to ensure that thegas pressure is both constant and sufficient to providefull burner output. To verify this the pressure has to betaken as a static and a dynamic reading. The dynamicreading cannot be taken until the boiler has beenstarted - refer to 7.4A maximum difference in gas pressure of 1 mbar mustnot be exceeded between static and dynamicconditions.7.3 Commissioning the BoilerOnce the preliminary checks have been completed andthe gas inlet pressure has been verified as correct, commissioning of the boiler modules may begin.7.3 Initial LightingOnly competent persons registered for working on non-domestic gas appliances should attempt the followingoperations. Before attempting to commission any boiler, ensure that personnel involved are aware of what actionis about to be taken.Record all readings for future reference on relevantcommissioning sheet.Allow system to warm up sufficiently to check operation ofcontrol thermostat.A combustion check must be taken when firstcommissioning the boiler. A sampling point is provided inthe boiler - refer to section 8.6 - Combustion Checks7.3.1 Operational ChecksNOTE! Care should be exercised when the boiler is firingas the heat exchanger components can achievetemperatures, which could cause injury if touched.1. Ensure that all external controls are in demand and thatthe gas supply to the module is isolated.2. Switch the on/off switch located on the front panel ofthe boiler to the on position - see figure 8.1.3. Start the individual boiler module using the modebutton located on the fascia panel for the chosenmodule - detailed in section 8.2.5 - Controls Operation..4. The control thermostat is set using the button (2) on thefascia as detailed in section 8.2.5 - Controls Operation.5. As the gas valve is closed, the low gas pressureswitch will prevent the boiler from firing and the errorcode ‘E132’ will be displayed on the screen. Refer tosection 8.2.4 of Controls Operation.6. If the above procedure occurs correctly, open the gasisolating valve and the fault indication will extinguish. The boiler will commence its ignition sequence aspreviously described. This time, when the gas valve isenergised the burner will ignite.7. The flame ionisation signal generated whilst theboiler is firing (should be approximately 15-20μA, butnot less than 3μA, can be viewed directly from thedisplay screen. The value is set to read dc μA.
