HAMWORTHY HEATING LTD. PUREWELL PERMANENT IGNITION 500001090/B1411.3 Water Circulation SystemFor design see Section 8:WATER SYSTEM.The system should be thoroughly flushed out withcold water without the pump in position. Ensure allthe valves are open. With the pump fitted the system should be filled andair locks cleared. Vent the radiators and check forleaks. If the system is unvented the pressurisation unitshould not be utilised for the initial filling. Thisshould be carried out using a WRC approveddouble check valve and temporary-filling loop.In order to comply with local Water AuthorityRegulations, this loop must be disconnected whenfilling is complete. Water treatments should not befed through the Pressurisation unit unless permittedby the manufacturer.Check the expansion vessel cushion pressure asdetailed by the manufacturer's Installer's Guide.11.4 Commissioning The BoilerA competent person holding ‘CORGI’ registrationMUST be responsible for the commissioning of thisboiler. Before attempting to commission any boiler, ensure that personnel involved are aware of whataction is about to be taken and begin by making thefollowing checks: -1) Flueway passages to chimney are clear.2a) ‘Classic’ models: - If necessary, remove thedraught diverter assembly and optional PrimaryFlue Damper, if fitted, flue hood and baffle, (notfitted to the 120kW boiler), to ensure the boilerflueways are clear. Reposition the gas baffleensuring that it is lying flat on the top section. Re-fitthe flue hood. Ensure draught diverter passagesand Primary Flue Damper, if fitted, are clear andclean.2b) ‘Integra’ models: - The ‘Integra’ draughtdiverter incorporates an integral inspection cover. To gain access, remove insulation and the M6 boltson the sloping front of the hood assembly. This willreveal the inner part of the boiler, if further accessis required, remove primary flue pipe (ensure it iscorrectly supported), and remove complete top ofthe draught diverter assembly. After cleaning theboiler re-assemble draught diverter in the reverseof dis-assembly. Ensure all joints are correctlysealed.3) Adequate ventilation as per Section 7:AIRSUPPLY exists in the boiler house.4) The system is fully charged with water, ready toreceive heat. All necessary valves are open andthe pump is circulating water.5) The pipework and valve arrangement is installedto Hamworthy Heating recommendations in such away that water flow rates will be in accordance withFigure No. 1.6) The gas supply pipework is clear of any loosematter, tested for soundness and purged.11.5 Boiler Checks Prior To LightingNOTE! Refer to Figure No. 1 for Natural Gasmaximum inlet pressure for normal operation.Information relating to propane firing can be foundin Appendix ‘A’.Note: - all propane firing boilers are fitted with a lowgas pressure switch (set at 20mbar). Should thepressure fall below this level, the boiler will notoperate.1) Gas supply is connected but turned to the "off"position. Any unions or fittings are correctlytightened, test points are closed, burners correctlypositioned, injectors are in place (of correct size)and tight and that the pilot is connected to the gasvalve.2) Ensure electricity is connected to the 3 pin IECplug on boiler and that the thermostat bulbs arefully inserted into the boiler pocket. Ensure thethermocouple is correctly connected between gasvalve and pilot burner.3 Re-set temperature limiter by firmly pressing pinon unit.4) Check Piezo unit is fitted securely on to itsbracket and the lead is undamaged and correctlylocated.5) Check setting of both temperature limiter andcontrol thermostat. The temperature limiter isgenerally set at 100°C from the factory unlessotherwise instructed. Set thermostat to requiredtemperature (normally 82°C). Remove knob to setlimits if required.NOTE! Minimum temperature setting should not beless than 72°C to avoid condensation in the flue if a22°C system temperature rise is used.NOTE! It is generally recommended that theminimum return temperature to a non-condensingboiler is 50°C.11.5.1 Procedure for Initial LightingWARNING: If the pilot light is extinguished eitherintentionally or unintentionally, no attempt shouldbe made to re-light the pilot until at least 3 minuteshave elapsed. This delay is for safety reasonsand MUST not be ignored.Ensure electricity supply to the boiler is off, i.e. (3pin IEC plug is removed.) Turn control thermostatto minimum.Light pilot burner by repeatedly pressing the buttonon the piezo unit whilst pushing/twisting the 'start'button on the control valve fully in. (See Figure No.14 for alternative valve descriptions). Note: - forpropane models only SIT or Honeywell gas valvesare used.Hold the button in for a further 20 seconds once thepilot is seen to light. Release button slowly. Thepilot burner should remain alight. If however it goes
