Freezing foods / storing frozen foods Page GB-19WARNINGDanger of explosion!Improper handling of the appliancemay lead to an explosion.■ Do not store explosive substances orspray cans with flammable propel-lants inside the appliance, as theymay cause ignitable gas-air mixturesto explode.CAUTIONHealth hazard!Incorrect handling, insufficient cool-ing or overlapping items can spoil thestored food. This could lead to a risk offood poisoning when consumed!■ Carefully pack raw meat, poultry andfish in particular to ensure that adja-cent food cannot be contaminatedby salmonella or similar bacteria.■ Abide by the storage times recom-mended by food manufacturers. Notethat the shelf life of frozen food maybe shortened due to a rise in the tem-perature inside the appliance e.g. be-cause of cleaning or power failure.■ In case of prolonged power failure ormalfunction of the appliance, removethe stored frozen food from the appli-ance and store it in a sufficiently coolplace or in another refrigerating ap-pliance (see "Product fiche concern-ing EU Directive no. 1060/2010“ onpage GB-43 for storage time in case ofmalfunction).■ After a malfunction, check wheth-er the stored food is still edible. Con-sume thawed and defrosted foodsimmediately, do not refreeze.Risk of injury!Improper handling of the appliancemay result in injury. Risk of burns causedby low temperatures.■ The food and the inside walls of thefreezer compartment have a very lowtemperature. Never touch them withwet hands. This can cause injury tothe skin.Skin damage can occur even with dryskin.■ Let ice cubes or ice lollies thaw a lit-tle before eating, do not put into yourmouth straight from the freezer area.Freezing foodFreezing means reducing the core tempera-ture of fresh, room-temperature food to fro-zen as quickly as possible – for best results“flash-frozen”. If not cooled quickly enough, the food will be “killed by frost”, i.e. the struc-ture will be destroyed. A constant storagetemperature of -18° C is needed to maintainthe food’s consistency, taste and nutritionalvalue. When freezing larger quantities offood, set the “Quick freezing” functionfor 2 hours beforehand (seepage GB-15). Be absolutely sure to notethe maximum freezing capacity (see "Productfiche concerning EU Directive no. 1060/2010“on page GB-43).• Place food you want to freeze on theglass shelves (6), in the freezer draw-ers (7) and (8) or in the 4-star doorshelf (1).Freezing foods / storing frozen foods
