Doing so willcause undesirable video interference.HDMI Video: If the display has an HDMI input, connect it to theHDMI Monitor Output (see Figure 32). No other video connections arerequired from the AVR to the video display. Analog video sources(composite, S-video and component) are converted to the HDMI formatand upscaled to as much as 1080p resolution, depending on thedisplay’s capabilities. Proceed to Step Six.Figure 32 – HDMI Monitor OutputComponent Video: If the display does not have HDMI inputs, butdoes have component video inputs, connect the Component VideoMonitor Outputs to the display (see Figure 33). The AVR 3550HDconverts composite and S-video sources to the component videoformat, while upscaling the resolution to as high as 1080i, dependingon the display’s capabilities. Select the appropriate resolution manually,as described in the Initial Setup section.Figure 33 – Component Video Monitor OutputsComposite/S-Video: If the video display does not have HDMI orcomponent video inputs, connect the composite or S-video MonitorOutput to the display. If available, S-video is preferred over compositevideo. The AVR 3550HD will convert composite video sources toS-video. See Figure 34.Figure 34 – Composite and S-Video Monitor OutputsConsult the manual for your TV to learn how to select the correctvideo input.Step Six – Plug in AC PowerAfter making all wiring connections, plug each component’s AC powercord into a working outlet. You may plug one device that draws no more than 50 watts into theAC Switched Accessory Outlet. See Figure 35. Turn on the device’smechanical or master power switch, and it will power on any time theAVR 3550HD is turned on. If the device has a clock or must alwaysbe on, do not plug it into this outlet.Figure 35 – Switched AC Accessory OutletFlip the rear-panel Master Power Switch Off before plugging the ACPower Cord into an electrical outlet. This will prevent the possibilityof damaging the AVR in case of a transient power surge. The AVR 3550HD is equipped with a detachable power cord, allowingyou to fully wire your system before installing the AVR. Plug the maleend of the cord into an unswitched AC outlet, and the female end intothe AVR 3550HD. See Figure 36.AVR 3550HDAVR 3550HDAVR 3550HDAVR 3550HD
