3 INTRODUCTIONIntroductionThank you for choosing Harman Kardon. The CDR 20 CD Player/Recorder is a uniqueproduct, designed not only to play back yourexisting library of compact discs, but also torecord compact discs from either analog or digi-tal programs. You may feed signals (for record-ing) to the CDR 20 from external sources suchas an A/V receiver, a tuner, a tape deck or a CDplayer, or you may simply place a CD in onedeck, and make a copy using a recordable CDin the other deck.Designed and engineered by Harman Kardon, the CDR 20 is among the first audio CDrecorders with x4 speed capability. This meansthat it will take only 15 minutes to copy a60-minute disc. The CDR 20 not only records with the highestspeed and quality available but it is also anaudiophile CD player. Through the use ofaudiophile-grade digital-to-analog converters(DACs), the CDR 20’s performance rivals themost sophisticated high-end players. Shouldyou wish to bypass the internal DACs and usean external digital processor, coax and opticaldigital outputs are available. Thanks to the CDR20’s dual-tray design, you may even play backtwo separate discs at the same time, for partiesor multi-room applications. To make CD play-back more enjoyable, the CDR 20 also featuresa wide range of program and repeat functions.Since CD recorders are a relatively new technol-ogy, this may be your first CD-R product.Although CD recorders resemble play-only CDmachines in many ways, there are some impor-tant differences between a standard CD and aCD-R.
