13OPERATIONMove the Master Power Switch ⁄(marked Power) to the “•” (On) position. The SUB-TS10 subwoofer will automaticallyturn itself on or go into Standby mode, depending on whether or not a signal isbeing sent to it by your receiver or surroundprocessor, and provided that the Music-Sense On/Off Switch ¶ is moved to theright so that it is in the AUTO position. When your receiver or amplifier is off, or isnot sending program material to the sub-woofer, the subwoofer will be in Standbymode and the LED Indicator ª on theamp panel will turn red. When the sub-woofer senses an audio signal, it will auto-matically turn itself on and the LEDIndicator ª will turn green. If the sub-woofer does not sense a signal afterapproximately twenty minutes, it will auto-matically go into Standby mode. When the Music-Sense On/Off Switch¶ is switched to the ON position, the sub-woofer will remain on, whether or not pro-gram material is playing. If you will be away from home for anextended period of time, or if the sub-woofer will not be used, switch the MasterPower Switch ⁄ to the OFF position.VolumeVolume can be adjusted using theSubwoofer-Level Control ‚, as shownbelow.Additional Bass AdjustmentsIn addition to the volume adjustmentsdescribed above, the SUB-TS10 subwooferincludes a Phase Switch ∞ and a FilterSwitch § that can be used to adjust thebass response to suit your listening environ-ment or taste. In most situations, the Phase Switch ∞should be left in the NORMAL position. Ifyou suspect that the subwoofer is playingout of phase with the other speakers, whichwould tend to diminish bass response, tryplacing this switch in the REVERSEposition. There is no harm in experimenting, and you may return the switch to theNORMAL position at any time. If yourearrange your room and reposition thespeakers, it would be a good idea to checkwhether they are in phase by flipping thisswitch. The High-Cut (Low-Pass) Filter Switch§ limits the frequencies of the audio sig-nal inputted to the subwoofer to the lowfrequencies that the subwoofer reproducesbest. This allows the subwoofer to performmore efficiently, and with superior bassreproduction, minimizing distortion thatmight occur if the subwoofer attempted toreproduce higher frequencies. This switchshould be left in the ON position, except:1. When the SUB Input £ is being used,in which case it has no effect, or2. When the Speaker-Level Inputs ™or the Line-Level Full-Range Inputs ¢are being used with a crossover or filteron board the receiver or processor. In thesetwo circumstances, place the switch in theOFF position.MIN MAXSubwooferLevelMIN MAXSubwooferLevel
