Unpacking and Installation3Signature 2.1CleaningWhen the unit gets dirty, wipe it with a clean, soft anddry cloth. If necessary, first wipe the surface with a softcloth slightly dampened with mild soapy water, followedby a fresh cloth with clean water. Wipe immediatelywith a dry cloth. Never use benzene, thinner, alcohol orany other volatile cleaning agent. Do not use abrasivecleaners, as they may damage the finish of metal parts.Avoid spraying insecticide near the unit.Moving the UnitBefore moving the unit, be certain to disconnect anyinterconnection cords with other components, and makecertain that you disconnect the unit from the AC outlet.When positioning the amplifier in its final location, makecertain that it has adequate ventilation on all sides, aswell as on the top and bottom. Do not place CDs, recordjackets, owner’s manuals or other paper on top of, orbeneath the unit, or in between multiple amplifiers in astack. This will block the air flow, causing degraded per-formance and a possible fire hazard. If the unit is to beenclosed in a cabinet or rack, make certain that there isadequate air circulation, with means provided for hot airto exit and for cool air to be brought in.Typographic ConventionsIn order to help you use this manual with the front panelcontrols and rear panel connections, certain conventionshave been used.EXAMPLE – (bold type) indicates a specific frontpanel control or rear panel connection1 – (number in a square) indicates a specific frontpanel control¡ – (number in a circle) indicates a rear panelconnectionUnpacking and InstallationThe carton and shipping materials used in protectingyour new amplifier were specially designed to cushion itfrom the shocks and vibration of shipping. We suggestthat you save the carton and packing materials for use inshipping if you move or if the unit ever needs repair.To minimize the size of the carton in storage, you maywish to flatten it. Carefully remove any staples used toclose carton seams; carefully slit the tape on the bottomand collapse the carton. Other cardboard inserts may bestored in the same manner. Packing materials that cannotbe collapsed should be saved along with the carton in aplastic bag.
