INSTALLATION AND OPERATION INSTRUCTIONS5-2SL 35-199, SL 45-260 MODULATING GAS BOILERSThis section details the method for troubleshooting the non-standard electroniccomponents on the boiler including the electronic differential air pressure sensorand the temperature sensors.5.2.1 Temperature SensorsThe resistance of the temperature sensors varies inversely with temperature. Totest, measure the temperature of the sensed environment and compare with thevalue derived from the measurement of the resistance (obtained by connecting agood quality test meter capable of measuring up to 5,000 kΩ (5,000,000Ω) at thecontroller end of the sensor lead).To obtain a resistance reading, remove power to the boiler. For the supply waterand return water temperature sensors, remove the wire leads by disconnectingtheir respective Molex connectors. Place multi-meter probes into sensor’s femaleMolex connector socket. Do not apply voltage to the sensor (damage may result).TEMPERATURE RESISTANCE TEMPERATURE RESISTANCE°F °C Ω °F °C Ω0 -18 85,362 100 38 5,8285 -15 72,918 105 41 5,21010 -12 62,465 110 43 4,66515 -9 53,658 115 46 4,18420 -7 42,218 120 49 3,76025 -4 39,913 125 52 3,38330 -1 34,558 130 54 3,05035 2 29,996 135 57 2,75440 4 26,099 140 60 2,49045 7 22,763 145 63 2,25550 10 19,900 150 66 2,04555 13 17,436 155 68 1,85760 16 15,311 160 71 1,68965 18 13,474 165 74 1,53870 21 11,883 170 77 1,40375 24 10,501 175 79 1,28180 27 9,299 180 82 1,17285 29 8,250 185 85 1,07390 32 7,334 190 88 98395 35 6,532 195 91 903Table 9: Temperature Sensor resistance values5.2Supply water temperature sensorReturn water temperature sensorIBC Outdoor Sensor10KΩ Temperature sensorssupplied with boiler (above)See table #9 for resistance values
