Make sure all six retentionscrews secured to the system and that the heat sink is properly installed.Step 0:5.5.5 Cooling Fan ReplacementWARNING:Failing to replace damaged or broken cooling fans may cause thesystem to overheat and lead to irreparable system damage.Three cooling fans cool the system. If one of the cooling fans failed it must be replaced.Two cooling fans cool the CPU and DIMM housing, one cooling fan cools the system. Toreplace the cooling fans, please do the following.Step 1: Follow all anti-static procedures. See Section 5.2.Step 2: Turn off the power. See Section 5.3.Step 3: Remove the back panel. See Section 5.4.1.Step 4: Remove the plastic cover. See Section 5.4.2.Step 5: Remove the metal enclosure. See Section 5.4.3.Step 6: Remove the processor and DIMM housing. When replacing the CPU andDIMM housing cooling fans only. See Section 5.4.4.Step 7: Remove the cooling fan retention screws. Four retention screws secure eachfan to a bracket. Remove these four retention screws to remove a fan. SeeFigure 5-17.
