Page 15POC 965 Series Medical Panel PC2.4 External Peripheral Interface ConnectorsThe following section describes the external peripheral interface connectors on the rearpanel of the subsystem.2.4.1 Serial Port ConnectorsThe POC-965 Series has two serial ports. The COM1 serial port is a RS-232 only port.The COM3 serial port can be configured as a RS-232, RS-422 or an RS-485 serial port.Pin 9 on all ports can be set as the normal ring (RI) signal or can be designated as a 5 V or12 V power supply. The two serial ports (COM1 and COM3) are interfaced to the ITEIT8712 super IO, through the low pin count (LPC) bus to the ICH8M Southbridge.Figure 2-5: COM PortsThere is one additional on-board serial port (COM2), which is connected to the touchscreen panel.2.4.2 LAN ConnectivityThe POC-965 Series has two GbE connectors on the bottom panel. One of the externalRJ-45 Ethernet LAN connectors is interfaced to an Intel® 82566MM Gigabit LAN connectdevice from the ICH8M Southbridge. The other RJ-45 Ethernet LAN connector isinterfaced directly to an Intel® 82573L PCIe GbE controller.
