8Safety instructionsFor your protectionRead the operating instructions in full beforestarting up and follow the safety instructions.• Keep the operating instructions in a place where they can beaccessed by everyone.• Ensure that only trained staff work with the appliance.• Follow the safety instructions, guidelines, occupational healthand safety and accident prevention regulations.Work with the deviceDANGER Before use, check the outlet pres-sure on the pressure reducer andcompare it with the pressure dis-played on the pressure gauge.Oxygen as a compressed gas isoxidising; intensively aids combus-tion; can react violently with flam-mable materials.• The filling time should not be set to less than 30 seconds. This will prevent combustible substances from being whirledaround in the crucible.• Insufficient ventilation can cause formation of explosive mix-tures. Therefore, only use the device in well-ventilated areas.• Check the seals for damage before each use.• After finishing work, the oxygen supply on the pressure redu-cer must be closed. For protection of the deviceDANGER Maintenance tasks should be per-formed without any excess pres-sure on the system.• Keep lines and fittings through which oxygen flows free ofgrease.UnpackingCorrect use and description of the deviceUseThe IKA C 248 oxygen filling station is only suitable for filling de-composition vessels C 5010 with oxygen.Unpacking• Please unpack the device carefully.• In the case of any damage a detailed report must be sentimmediately (post, rail or forwarder).Delivery scope• C 248 oxygen filling station• 3 x O-rings• Screw fitting• Gasket• Operating instructionDescription of the device• The 2 m pressure hose, included with delivery, can easily belaid to connect to the oxygen bottle.• Therefore, the location of the C 248 filling station does notdepend on the oxygen bottle being in the immediate vicinity.• The filling pressure that is set and the pressure in the decom-position vessel can be read directly from the manometer ofthe C 248 (11), thus preventing insufficient filling quantitiesbecause of not observing the minimum filling period.• Constant opening and reasoning on the oxygen bottle arevoid because the automatic non-return valve (bulb compl. (2))only opens if a decomposition vessel is being filled.
