6Interfaces and outputsNote: Please comply with the system requirements together withthe operating instructions and help section included with thesoftware.USB interfaceThe Universal Serial Bus (USB) is a serial bus for connecting thedevice to the PC. Equipped with USB devices can be connected toa PC during operation (hot plugging). Connected devices and theirproperties are automatically recognized.Use the USB interface to update the firmware.Controlling the medium temperatureThe medium temperature is limited by the set safety temperaturecontrolled by means of a PID controller and measured by the PT1000 temperature sensor, and the medium is heated up as quicklyas possible without overshooting to the set temperature.The PID controller adapts to the different tempering media andensures optimum temperature control with minimum tempera-ture drift and fluctuation.Optimum control is only achieved when the medium is mixed us-ing a rotating evaporator piston.- Set the desired medium temperature between room tempera-ture and 99 °C by turning the rotating/pressing knob (C).- Start the heating function by pressing the rotating/pressing knob (C).- The LED heating (G) appears.- The heating bath is heated up to the set temperature.- The set and actual temperature referred to the medium areshown on the display.USB cable A - BThis cable is used to connect the USB interface to a PC.USB Micro B USB AMaintenance and cleaningThe device is maintenance-free. It is only subject to the naturalwear and tear of components and their statistical failure rate.CleaningRemove the device from themains before cleaning.Only use cleaning materials recommended by IKA:Dirt Cleaning agentDyes Isopropyl alcoholBuilding materials Water containing detergent/isopropyl alcoholCosmetics Water containing detergent/isopropyl alcoholFood Water containing detergentFuels Water containing detergentOther materials Please consult IKAWear protective gloves during cleaning the devices.Electrical devices may not be placed in the cleansing agent for thepurpose of cleaning.Do not allow moisture to get into the device when cleaning.Before using another than the recommended method for clean-ing or decontamination, you must ascertain with IKA that thismethod does not destroy the device.Ordering spare partsWhen ordering spare parts, please give:- Device type,- Serial number, see rating plate,- Position number and description of spare part, seewww.ika.com,- Software version.RepairsPlease only send devices in for repair that have been cleanedand are free of materials which might present health haz-ards.For this, use the “certificate of compliance” form which youcan obtain from IKA or can download a version for printing fromthe IKA website at www.ika.com.If your appliance requires repair, return it in its original packaging.Storage packaging is not sufficient when sending the device - alsouse appropriate transport packaging.USB device driversFirst, download the latest driver for IKA devices with USB inter-face from:http://www.ika.com/ika/lws/download/usb-driver.zipInstall the driver by running the setup file. Then connect the IKAdevice through the USB data cable to the PC. The data communi-cation is via a virtual COM port.
