ENGLISH 7Freezing fresh foodPlace the fresh food to be frozen inside the freezercompartment. Avoid direct contact with alreadyfrozen food. To freeze the quantity of food shownon the serial tag, remove the top drawer and placethe food directly on the rack.Refrigerator compartmentRefrigerator compartment defrosting is completelyautomatic. Droplets of water on the rear wall insidethe refrigerator compartment indicate that theautomatic defrost phase is in progress. The defrostwater is automatically run into a drain hole andcollected in a container, where it evaporates.Fan (if provided)The fan operates automatically. The fan ensures amore consistent distribution of the temperature insidethe refrigerator compartment, with betterpreservation of food and reduction of excesshumidity. Do not obstruct the suction zone with food.The fan is only active when the motor is in operation.Caution! The refrigerator accessories must notbe placed in a dishwasher.Freezer compartmentThis appliance is a refrigerator with a < starrating freezer compartment. Packed frozen foodscan be stored for the period indicated on thepacking. Fresh food can also be frozen, ensuringthat any contact with already frozen food isavoided. The quantity of fresh food that can befrozen in a 24 hour period is given on the ratingplate. Re-freezing of partially defrosted food is notrecommended. This food should be consumedwithin 24 hours. For further information on freezingfresh food, refer to the quick guide.Removing the baskets (depending on the model)Pull the drawers out as far as they go, then liftslightly and remove.Note: The freezer can also be used without theupper drawers, in order to maximise space. Forcorrect operation of the freezer compartment thebottom drawer should not be removed. Ensure thatafter placing the food on the racks, the freezer doorcloses properly.Making ice cubes (if provided)Fill the ice cube tray up to 2/3 with water andplace in the freezer compartment. Do not use sharpor pointed objects to detach the tray.Operation of the refrigerator and freezercompartment• If the refrigerator compartment of your applianceis fitted with a thermostat box the temperature ofboth compartments is adjusted using thethermostat knob as shown in figure 1. Move theknob to the position to switch the wholeappliance off.• If in addition to the internal thermostat box yourappliance also has an external control panel withan adjustment knob, the temperatures of the twocompartments must be adjusted separately.
