4 Classic FF - Installation & ServicingINTRODUCTIONThe Classic FF230-2 100 is a range of automatically fully controlled,wall mounted, balanced flue, fanned gas boilers.The heat exchanger is cast iron. The boiler casing is of whiteenamelled mild steel.The boiler casing has a removable controls pod containing a drop-down door. The boiler thermostat is located behind the drop- downdoor.Note.These boilers cannot be used on systems which include gravitycirculation. It is, therefore,important that no external control devices, e.g. flue dampers,economisers etc., are directly connected to these appliances -unlesscovered by these Installation and Servicing instructions or otherwiserecommended by Caradon Plumbing Limited in writing.If in doubt please enquire.Any direct reconnection of a control device not approved by CaradonPlumbing Limited could invalidate the BSI Certification and thenormal appliance warranty. It could also infringe the Gas SafetyRegulations and the above regulations.SAFE HANDLING OF SUBSTANCESCare should be taken when handling the boiler insulation panelswhich can cause irritation to the skin. No asbestos, mercury or CFCsare included in any part of this boiler.LOCATION OF BOILERThe boiler must be installed on a flat and vertical wall, capable ofadequately supporting the weight of the boiler and any ancillaryequipment.The boiler may be fitted on a combustible wall and insulation betweenthe wall and the boiler is not necessary - unless required by thelocal authority. The boiler must not be fitted outside.Timber Framed BuildingsIf the boiler is to be fitted in a timber framed building it should befitted in accordance with the Institute of Gas Engineering documentIGE/UP/7:1998.BathroomsThe boiler may be installed in any room or internal space, althoughparticular attention is drawn to the requirements of the current I.E.E.(BS.7671) Wiring Regulations and, in Scotland, the electricalprovisions of the building regulations applicable in Scotland withrespect to the installation of the boiler in a room or internal spacecontaining a bath or shower. continued on page 6GENERALNOTE TO THE INSTALLER: LEAVE THESEINSTRUCTIONS ADJACENT TO THE GAS METER.ALSO COMPLETE THE BENCHMARK LOG BOOKAND GIVE THIS TO THE CUSTOMER.Current Gas Safety (Installation and Use) Regulationsor rules in force.It is law that all gas appliances are installed by a CORGI registeredinstaller in accordance with the above regulations. Failure to installappliances correctly could lead to prosecution. It is in your owninterest, and that of safety, to ensure the law is complied with.The installation of the boiler MUST also be in accordance with thelatest I.E.E (BS.7671) Wiring Regulations, local buildingregulations, bylaws of the local water authority, the BuildingRegulations and Building Standards (Scotland) and any relevantrequirements of the local authority.
