The operation of the boiler and the use and adjustment ofALL system controls should be fully explained to theHouseholder, to ensure the greatest possible fueleconomy, consistent with household requirements of bothheating and hot water consumption.Advise the User of the precautions necessary to preventdamage to the system and to the building, in the event ofthe system remaining inoperative during frosty conditions.5. Explain the function and the use of the boiler thermostatand external controls.6. Explain the function of the boiler overheat thermostatand emphasise that if cutout persists, the boiler shouldbe turned off and a registered CORGI installerconsulted. In IE contact a Competent Person.7. Explain and demonstrate the function of time andtemperature controls, radiator valves etc., for theeconomic use of the system.8. If any programmer is fitted draw attention to theProgrammer User's Instructions and hand them to theHouseholder.9. After installation and commissioning please complete theCommissioning Checklist before handover tothe customer. For IE, it is necessary to complete a"Declaration of Conformity" to indicate compliance to I.S.813:2002.10. Stress the importance of regular servicing by a CORGIregistered installer and that a comprehensive serviceshould be carried out AT LEAST ONCE A YEAR. In IEservicing work must be carried out by a Competent Person.After completing the installation and commissioning of thesystem the installer should hand over to the householder bythe following actions:51 HANDING OVER50 GENERAL CHECKSMake the following checks for correct operation:1. Set the boiler thermostat knob to position 6 and operate the mainson/off switch. Check that the main burner lights and extinguishesin response.2. The correct operation of ANY programmer and all other systemcontrols should be proved.Operate each control separately and check that the main burner orcirculating pump, as the case may be, responds.3. Check that the casing is sealed correctly and compressing thesealing strip all around the casing.4. Water Circulating Systema. With the system HOT, examine all water connections forsoundness.b. With the system still hot, turn off the gas, water and electricitysupplies to the boiler and drain down, in order to complete theflushing process.c. Refill and vent the system, clear all air locks and again check forwater soundness.d.
