Use these placementrecommendations as a guide. Slightvariations will not diminish yourlistening pleasure. The P36AW loudspeakers arevideo-shielded and can safely beplaced near a television. The loudspeakers are weather-resistant and may be used eitherindoors or outdoors, such as in apatio area. As noted below, whenusing the speakers outdoors, werecommend mounting them underan overhang, such as roof eaves, for added protection. Becausethey are resistant to moisture, thespeakers are also appropriate formounting in a bathroom, althoughnot inside a bathtub or showerstall.Although these loudspeakers aredesigned as a mirrored pair, thedecision as to which one is left orright will depend on the amount ofspace left between them.A wider stereo image is presentedwith the tweeter/midrange arrayoutboard, and a tighter image ispresented with the array inboard.Less than 6 – 8 feetMore than 6 – 8 feet0-2 ft.For stereo-only applications:For home theater applications:This placement provides a widespread in sound, supplementedby the center channel speaker.Do not attempt to mount thesespeakers on a ceiling, on theunderside of roof eaves or in ashower stall. The P36AW loudspeakers may bepositioned on the wall either hori-zontally or vertically. The grille logoon each speaker may be rotateddepending on how the speaker ispositioned. Gently pull the logoaway from the grille slightly, rotateit to the desired position, and let go.The logo will snap back into place. When mounted vertically, thetweeter array may be positionedeither up or down, depending onthe height of the placement. If thespeakers will be above ear level, the tweeter array should be posi-tioned down, preferably no morethan two feet above ear level. Ifthe speakers will be mounted verylow, it may be best to position thetweeter array upward so that it willbe no more than two feet belowear level. The enclosures are speciallydesigned to angle the speakerstoward the listener when mountedflush against the wall. When mounting the speakers out-doors, we recommend that youplace them under an overhang, such as roof eaves, for added pro-tection, and that you use two ofthe supplied special angle-mountscrews per speaker, which anglethe speakers downward at agreater-than-usual angle, facilitat-ing water drainage.NOTE: When using the enclosedangle-mount screws, always usethe top two screw locations appro-priate for the specific mountingorientation of your P36AW. Refer-ring to the enclosed installationtemplate, screw locations (1) and(2) are to be used when mountingthe speaker horizontally so thatthese locations are on top. Tomount the loudspeakers vertically, use locations (2) and (4) or loca-tions (1) and (3), depending on themounting orientation. Do not mountthe speaker upside down – withscrew locations (3) and (4) ontop – because it won’t be ableto lock onto the screw heads.Remember that the JBL logo onthe tweeter/mid faceplate can berotated with choice of speakerposition (vertical or horizontal). At least one screw per speakershould be installed in a woodenwall stud. Select an appropriatewall anchor for the other screw. If the special angle-mount screwsare not being used, size 10 screwsof at least 1-1/2" in length are rec-ommended. If the screws are usedin drywall or other surfaces inca-pable of holding the screw byitself, selection of proper anchorsis essential. The customer is solelyresponsible for proper selectionand installation of screws, anchorsand other installation hardware.Further installation details areincluded on the installationtemplate.WALL-MOUNTINGSupplied Angle-Mount Screw(When using angle-mount screws, always utilize the toptwo screw holes on theP36AW, depending onmounting orientation.)Horizontal mounting:Use screwholes (1) and (2).Vertical mounting: Usescrewholes (1) and (3), or (2)and (4), whichever are uppermost.Supplied Rubber PadP36AWWallRoof eave |
