CONNECTIONSCAUTION: Before making anyconnections to your subwoofer, make sure the power to yourentire system is OFF.AC POWERFirst make sure the VolumeControl on the rear panel of yourPSW Subwoofer is in the minimumposition. Make all connections, then plug the AC cord into a wallsocket:INPUTSYour PSW subwoofer has bothline-level and speaker-level inputconnections. Review yourreceiver/T.V./source amplifierinstruction manual to see whichoutputs your equipment provides, then follow the appropriateinstructions below."Line Input" - Use the RCA(phono) input jacks labeled "LineInput" when connecting from aline-level device, such as a pre-amp, crossover, signal processor,or when using any of the line-leveloutputs on the rear of yourreceiver/T.V./source amplifier. If your receiver has a singleRCA output for sending thesignal to the subwoofer, connect it to both R & L inputjacks by using a "y" adapter(not included). Many stereo/large screen T.V.shave stereo (R & L) RCA jacks forsending the signal to externalaudio equipment. Your subwooferconnects to these using both theR & L input jacks. (See Fig. 1)"Speaker Level Input (fromamplifier)" - Use these inputswhen connecting to the speakerout (speaker mains) of yourreceiver/T.V./source amplifier. Runspeaker wires from the speakeroutput terminals (usually codedred and black) on the rear of yourreceiver/T.V./source amplifier tothe red and black input terminalslabeled "Speaker Level Input (fromamplifier)" on the PSW subwoofer.(See Fig. 2)Preparing the speaker levelhookup wireYour JBL dealer can recommendsuitable cables, or you can buywire at most hardware stores.High quality connectors and cableoffer consistent performance thatdoes not deteriorate over time.We recommend #16 AWG two-conductor insulated wire as aminimum size. If your PSWsubwoofer is more than 30 feet(10 m) from your receiver/T.V./source amplifier, use largerdiameter wire.Making the speakerlevel hookup1. First measure the distancefrom your receiverFF.V./sourceamplifier to your PSWsubwoofer.2. Next make two hookup wiresthis length.3. Strip off 3/8" of insulation fromboth ends of each conductorwire.4. Twist each set of thin Wires intoa tightly-bunched spiral.5. Now find a visual differencebetween the two conductors ofeach molded pair of speakerwire.5
