REPAIR, MAINTENANCE AND APPEARANCE CARESimplicity is a hallmark of JackRabbit’s design. We’ve chosen to use mature and readily availablecomponents. This design strategy not only improves reliability, but also reduces the documentationyou have to read through. This Owner’s Manual is half the size of JackRabbit’s competitors. If the rear tire should suffer a puncture you can take your JackRabbit to a bicycle shop whereinstalling a new inner tube will cost about $15. Or you can:1. Unhook the V-brake cable--allowing the brake pads to spring out beyond the width of the tire.2. Unplug the 9-pin motor cable.3. Loosen the two 15 mm axle bolts with the wrench provided4. Remove the wheel from the frame.5. Unseat the tire bead from the rim using a plastic pry tool.6. Remove the inner tube.7. Inspect the inside wall of the tire and remove what may remain of the cause of the puncture--otherwise your new tube may pop!8. Install a new inner tube--or the old one after patching it.9. Reseat the tire bead then inflate to 40-65 psi. Note: lower pressures increase the chance of apuncture. Higher pressures will not absorb bumps as well.10. Reinstall the rear wheel in the frame, tighten both axle bolts, re-connect the V-brake’s cable.11. Re-connect the motor cable being careful to align the two highlighted arrows ( ) beforeapplying full pressure to achieve the waterproof seal. The only other maintenance item is the V-brake pad set. As they wear down you can maintain yourstopping power by turning the barrel adjuster on the brake lever counter clockwise. The pads willeventually require replacement. They are inexpensive, but their installation may not be trivial. You can periodically wipe down your JackRabbit with a damp cloth and mild, water-based cleaner tomaintain its finish. Store your JackRabbit out of direct sunlight and in a dry, cool environment toprevent unnecessary weathering damage. This MANUAL is not intended as a detailed service, repair or maintenance manual.
